Electricals (another timbre)

22 July 2008: EKG's long-lost 10" record has finally been released in 256kbps MP3 format as part of WFMU's new Free Music Archive; listen to it at the Chicagoland Free Music Archive Prelaunch site. [This site seems to be broken at the moment.]

EKG's music is in the soundtrack of Amie Siegel's feature-length motion picture DDR/DDR, which premiers in the 2008 Whitney Bienniel.

EKG's music is in the soundtrack of a short video work by Rebecca Baron and Doug Goodwin, Cuddle Sit By Pool, which is part of »Zukunft des Körpers«, and premiers 19. April – 18. Mai in Frankfurter Positionen 2008, at the Deutsches Filmmuseum in Frankfurt.

For three concerts in May 2007, in addition to our own music, EKG sets include a performance of Morton Feldman's 1976 composition, Oboe and Orchestra, with the orchestral score meticulously realized using analog electronics by Ernst Karel. Kyle Bruckmann performs the oboe part.

Concert dates:

10 May 2007, 8:00pm. Bowerbird, Philadelphia PA.
Part of the Something Else More Festival.

11 May 2007, both 8:00 and 10:00 sets. The Stone, NYC.
We will perform the Feldman for the 8:00 set.
For the 10:00 set we will be joined by Bhob Rainey.

13 May 2007, 8:00pm. Mills Gallery at the BCA, Boston.
With Signal Quintet (Tomas Korber, Norbert Möslang, Günter Müller, Jason Kahn, and Christian Weber).
Concert sponsored by Non-Event.

See these and other upcoming performances of works by Morton Feldman on the Morton Feldman page.

OUT NOW (August 2006):
EKG & Giuseppe Ielasi, Group, on Formed Records

In the spring of 2005, EKG and Giuseppe Ielasi toured New England, playing both separately and occasionally together. On free days we recorded material together, and continued recording material with the trio record in mind even after parting ways and going to Berlin and Milan. This album consists of compositions by Ernst Karel and Giuseppe Ielasi built with this material.

CD is packaged in a cardboard mini-LP-like gatefold cover, featuring a photograph of a sculpture by Helen Mirra.

For reviews of this album see the REVIEWS page.
